Before You Commit

Choosing wallpaper is an important decision, and ordering a sample is the best way to feel confident before purchasing panels for your wall. At Melissa Dayton Art, we offer wallpaper samples so you can experience the design in your own home — under your lighting, next to your colors, and within your space — before placing a full order.


Why Order a Wallpaper Sample?

Our samples are designed to help you evaluate the color, scale, and overall feel of the wallpaper before installation. Each sample measures 8 × 11 inches and includes:

  • A scaled design preview so you can see how the pattern flows across a larger wall
  • An actual-size portion of the design so you can evaluate the true scale, detail, and spacing of the artwork

Together, these elements give you a clear understanding of how the wallpaper will appear once installed.

Sampling Large-Scale or Mural Designs? We recommend ordering a 2-foot panel instead of a standard sample. A 2-foot panel allows you to see more of the artwork and better understand the movement and scale of the pattern within your space.

How to Use Your Sample

Place It on Your Wall

Tape the sample to the wall where you plan to install the wallpaper.

Observe It Throughout the Day

View the sample in morning light, afternoon light, evening light, and lamplight to understand how the colors shift in your space.

Compare with Your Interior Finishes

Hold the sample next to paint colors, fabrics, furniture, rugs, and other finishes in the room to ensure the design works beautifully with your space.

Evaluate Your Wall Surface

Use the sample to help determine whether your wall surface is smooth and appropriate for your chosen wallpaper material.
